Just starting out
Hi people, just new here dont have a frodo yet but i did have a '93 sierra, anyway ive just seen a '88 El with 190000km oil leak on the lower block, extractors/muffler, very straight and rust free & original. Just wondering if $5500 sounds ok. I will follow up with pics and mods as they happen if it works out.

One question..............
WHY ??
If you want to modify your 4WD to make it go well off-road, then it's easier and cheaper to modify a Suzuki. Feroza's are limited by lack of gearing options, lack of lockers, lack of solid front axle !!
I take it that you are in Aust ?? 'cause as PV says, $5500 is a bit steep if its US dollars you're talking about.
Really, I'm interested as to why you want a 4WD.....what do you want to do to it .....

Must be in Aus as he used km's not miles.
Besty is right though, much easier to modify the Sierra. But then again you'd miss out on all the fun we have scouring the planet for ideas, parts and advice!!!!
Is this thing in a car yard or is it a private sale?

I imagine an '88 EL Feroza would be pretty luxurious compared to a Sierra- maybe that's the reason?
For that price it would want to be in top condition Turtle. I paid $8990 for my 1992 ELIII in Jan this year- it's got air con, all the power bits (windows, mirrors, steer), tow bar, driving lights, Rola roof racks, window tinting. It's virtually as new to look at inside and out and had done 160000km with very little off road use. That price is in Adelaide too- our prices seem to be dearer than other states- and was bought from a dealer with a three month warranty.
From Redbook:
1988 DAIHATSU FEROZA
F300GE Hardtop EL 2dr Man 5sp 4x4 1.6i (Oct onwards)
trade in price guide* $2,400 - $3,500
national average price - private sale* $3,300 - $5,400
price when new (RRP) $19,950

Wait and keep looking.
I bought my 1993 SXII about 5 or 6 weeks ago for AUD6,000. The only thing wrong with it was a rusty tailpipe and blown interior light (and probably a cracked manifold which whistles, hence the name). It had a CD player, tinted windows and alarm/immobiliser.
I'd looked around car yards in the city (Perth) and could only find narrow tracks, which were around AUD8,000. All the private sale wide tracks were AUD10,500 to 12,500.
After basically giving up looking, I travelled to a country town (Busselton) and found the perfect Feroza (accidentally) being advertised privately for AUD8,500. I phoned the guy and he told me it was now going for AUD6,500. With cash in hand (important) I offered AUD6,000 which he accepted.
It appears that smaller 4wds are harder to sell in country towns where Landcruisers and Patrols or Falcons and Commodores are popular. I think the guy who sold my car was just happy to sell the car.
So keep your eyes peeled outside of big cities for a much better deal.

That was a sweet deal. how many kays on it?
Funny mine whistles too... I was wondering what that was all about... I just think it's cool to put my foot down when I see a good lookin gal and let the car do the whisling

When the new extractors and exhaust system go on, I'll have to find something else to give me the whistle. Maybe I'll glue an old king brown beer bottle to the front bumper.
Speaking of whistles, anyone know if "Shoo Roo's" really work? (those little add-ons designed to keep kangaroos from getting blood on your paintwork)

Don't know if you're in Sydney Turtle but I saw a 93 Feroza SXP Widetrack in the paper today.
It's Maroon with all the electric options, air con, alloys, tow bar and only 130,000 kms on the clock. They say it's in immaculate condition and has a full service history for $8,000.
I think it's a really good price myself. The number is 02 9606 7719 if you or anyone else is interested.
