Make it easy
I have tried a search and the is F$%K All about lifting a Leaf Sprung GQ/Mav Ute.
I'll make the question easier. Has anyone on this site lifted a GQ/Mav ute with Leaf Springs? What did you do? How did you do it? What are the problems that need to be addressed?
There is nothing in the GQ bible on this.

you may not get much info on leaf gq's but if you look at mq's most of the info applys or can be easily adapted to work

HEY MATE, spring over, na 2'' springs, 2 '' body lift, and maybe superior drop shakles, that'll get tyres the under, don't go to big on the springs, you will lose to much flex,
bucketofbolts is sold, :(
Leave springs is leave springs.....
lifting a leave sprung truck will be the same throughout....
the only differences are in things like crossmembers getting in the way of front shafts, and then steering.
to fit 35s all you need is a 2 inch bodylift and a trim of the guards.... so its not exactly like you have to go all out...
if you do 2 inch springs and put some decent shackles on them with a 2 inch body lift you will fit 35s without any probs.... 35s arent a big tyre.

2" body list, 2 " spring lift, dont do extended shakles unless the spings are the correct lenght to deal with it OR you do a shckel reversal and change the mount position, extended shackles chane the way the leaf works and can lead to the spring breaking, bending etc
depending on what you want to achieve have you considered SOA?

Thanks for the replies Guys,
I haven't actually bought my new rig yet. I have about $6000 to $8000 to spend and want to buy a ute....
I can only find Leaf Sprung Models in this price range. I only want to set up to be modified class at a maximum of 35" tyres.
My experience is with a coil sprung shorty so I have no idea of what I should do to get good articulation combined with the lift to clear the 35's.
I don't really know how a leaf sprung Nissan would go in comps compared to a shorty.
I am just gathering info at the moment. But if anyone has info on a suitable rig in this price bracket send me a PM with contact details.

SOA can be a cheap option, steering probably the biggest cost
if you are competing, soa can be a good option

if your wanting to build a rig to compete where the only main rule is 35" tyre max why would you choose a vehicle that has 31" tyre std you should choose a zook or something wher 35" tyres a massive in compared to std to actually make a decent difference. 35" on a patrol is everyday driver stuff.
