weird problem

Post by whiteknight »

Vehicle: 96 Hilux

Problem: When i put my foot on the brakes the left hand dash blinker light alos comes on faintly
When i have the left hand blinker on and put my foot on the brakes it starts blinking fast then I take foot off the brake it returns to normal blinking speed.

I replaced the battery last weekend as the old one was shot and was wondering if I may have done something but cant think of what it could have been or is it something else and just a coincidence.

I think it's a coincidence.

Check you rear left light cluster - I'm guessing you have a dodgy earth there, so your brake globe is earthing through the indicator globe, and vice-versa. Is there any problem when you put your headlights on?

Good luck,

Scott

the rear lights are not a single cluster.

they are the seperate round truck lights with each bulb in its own light so to speak but I will pull apart the wiring and check it all out i guess

I'd look at the loom with a multimeter and double check all your associated earth connections.
