wheel knock/rub noise

Post by slowLux »

i've discovered a sort of rubbing knocking sorta noise in my 88 GQ coming from the front left wheel. It's like once every 5 seconds when just slowly rolling at like 2km/h sorta thing. My steerings already a bit out of alingment (leeans to the left a bit). Theres no lift or anything done, everythins copmpletely stock. Anyone have any suggestions? as i wanna sort this out cause i plan on going away for a week in about 2 weeks so i'd like to know what it is.

Thanks in advance,

It may not be, but that's the noise my MK made and the bearings were rooted. Put the front end on jackstands and spin the wheel to see if the noise is there. also grab the tyre and 12 & 6 O'clock and see if it wobbles in and out.

body mounts

Post by wazza45 »

Check the body mounts under the front passenger floor well. They tend to knock when their stuffed. Especially when you turn your steering while moving slow.

Mechanic might not have adjusted bearing pre-load properly/enough.

i had mine done exact same symptoms.... mech didnt put the locking tab back on properly and I almost lost the front wheel, didnt have problems for 5-6 weeks until it got noticably loose.
Apperently front lefts are known for doing this too@!
