I put a tacho on mine a few years back. I took a signal directly from under one of the coils on the coil pack. You will need a 2 cylinder tacho to read this signal. A tacho to read a 2 cylinder signal is a BIT DIFFICULT to find . So I bought a tacho which was switchable between 4 6 & 8 cylinders ( these are readily available). The switch on the back of the tacho simply switched between 3 different resistors to select the number of cylinders. I carefully looked at the 3 resistors and calculated the resistance needed for 2 cylinders and soldered the new one in in place of one of the others and it worked. Easy as

I bought a black box from Marks adapters and use the factory tacho. I don't think it cost too much and saved me thinking too much. The signal comes off one of the wires at the coil pack.

if you undo the black tape around the v6 wiring loom where it goes in to the cabin, on the the engine bay side near the firewall there is a brown wire that is just loose and the black tape goes over it. it is a tacho wire also. it easy to find.

you can take your hilux dash cluster to an auto elec and they change change it and make it work for you, last one i had done was 37 bucks.
cheers Pete.

its the skinny pedal
