Power steer on a 2lt and whats this turbo ?
I have just purchased an 85 dual cab lux to bomb about in for a couple of grand.. Has a 2l with and aftermarket turbo also has factory A\C (that is still nice and cold)
Old man emu springs, snorkle and grenerally not in bad nic for the $$
What is does not have is power steering, and I would like some.
I can see that the crank pulley has one spare slot to fit a one ore V belt ... but where would I put the pump

Not sure of the engine numbers but looks the same as a mates diesel and his power steering pump sits down low on a bracket that is on the passengers side engine mount. The bracket is part of the engine mount and the reservior sit up near your fuel filter. When buying it be carfull as there are several different pumps that fit different brackets I know this because have replaced mates last weekend and am selling mine from a 4y and tried to fit it but could,nt get the pumps to match the brackets the power steering box's are the same unless u want to go with crossover on a solid front end you will need a ifs steering box it runs east west whereas the stock live steering boxes run north south.
Is the 2l the 2.4 diesel? if it is thats the rig im talking about a 2.4 diesel 88 4runner

If you dont have panel damage you ain't trying hard enough
Yeah its a diesal .. I am OK(ish) with the standard push pull steer, would just like power assist for a while.. Once I get my house, garage etc I will look at crossover .. for now dont want to spend to many $$ if I can help it.
But you have given me hope Sounds like I should get the pump and bracket together

Yea get the together. Its a piss easy job take the wieght of the engine off the diff with a bottl jack and undoo engine mount putting it back put the bracket with the pump no pully then the lines then lower it into position then the pully. It will probably take a day the first time then you should have it down to about 2hours.
With that engine put an overheat alarm in not hard but worthwile the bloke I go wheeling with has problems on long hillclimbs and if the radiator get mud in its nearly all over

I do love my compressor and air tools .. an old push pull power steer box should be pretty cheap .. I hope .. (mostly to make it easier for my wife to drive if she needs to)
