GQ STD tank size

Post by GURU »

G'day all,

Own a very early GQ 88 model infact, 4.2 diesel DX spec, tank only holds 76L Max... thought the tanks were closer to 90L??

Just trying to work it out...gets abot 600kms a tank...but everyone else that I know who had a GQ use to get closer to 700kms....

if you want to find out, drain it out (it wont hurt to flush it anyway)

approx 94ltrs is standard in GQs LWb but dents and shit can limit it, but not by that much.

Have you run it dry?

86 litres for SWB.

note that the standard tank the gauge says empty well before it is empty.

GQ LWB and SWB all have 95 litre tanks.
The tanks with a internal pump hold a tiny bit less due to the pump displacement.

Does anyone know the approximate dimensions of these tanks? Are they roughly rectangular or are they somewhat irregular?

Thanks, that size should fit in my G60 and replace the stock 63 litre tank (which is stuffed anyway) depending on where the inlet is positioned.

There must be a few lying around after LPG conversions!

Sadly, I can't just look at the stock petrol tank in that because it's long gone... replaced with a gas tank.
