GU 3 lt diesel injector servicing

Post by AndrewPatrol »

Just wondering what the advised period of getting them looked and "cleaned" or whatever they do - is? I've heard that 100k used to be the recomended period for diesels in the past.

Hi,

Some unkind souls would say that the donk doesn't last long enough for it to ever become and issue.......
However (I own one too), I have read somewhere that those high pressure injector thingys should go for at least 150,000 and they are not serviceable, so must be replaced when dodgy. At a fair expense... luckily it is only a 4 cylinder jobbie....

your injectors should be good for 200+ thousand mate just change your fuel filters regularly and you will be fine just change the injectors when it starts blowing excessive smoke.

something aout rail injectors, they did mine at 100, 000. and that was the only time it had been back to nissan for a service, didn't cost much from memory.

Hi,

This engine is not a common rail diesel. If they "did" them at 100,000 they probably just put a bottle of injector cleaner in the tank. Otherwise you would certainly have remembered the cost.

I have heard that these injectors are indeed a replacement only item, but have a chat to the guys at Berrima diesel... If anyone can service them, it will be Reinhard. You're right about the Nissan service being a bottle of cleaner too!

Yes, the 3l injectors are an unseviceable item, bosch tends to do that to some of there 2spring injectors. Its a matter of driving and maintaining the vehicle until fuel economy starts to suffer. It wouldn't be a bad idea to get them tested at 200,000km.
