Worth going up 4 inchs with suspension 4 a vitara?

Post by Xplode »

heya

i was wondering if it is worthing going up 4 inches using suspension alone for a 93 2door vit? how much generally? wat other mods need to be made ie diffs etc?

or its better off going 2' 2.5' suspension and then adding a 2 inch bodylift?

It will be hard to lift a vitara 4" effectively. Generally, this will require either a calmini kit, or stacking and mixing and matching a whole bunch of stuff.

Personally, I think that a 2" body lift and 2ish of suspension will be a better outcome.

This will mean you can use OME parts to get the suspension sorted and the 2" body lift is a pretty simple install.

4" of pure suspension lift will require lowering the front diff, springs, OME struts, 2" strut spacers, bump stop spacers, brake lines, rear driveshaft spacers, after all t hat, the front camber will be getting beyond what camber bolts can correct, the CV's will be critical, and the rear arms will be at excessive angles.

A Calmini kit provides pretty much all of this, and around 3" of lift, but without a body lift, it will only really allow about a 31" tyre.

Calmini front struts are rubbish.

I think that you will be happier with 2+2.

if there's a genuine 4" suspention only lift that exists for the vitara then i haven't found it yet!!

usually you can only get a 2" suspention and 2"body lift, be careful body lifting if it's a late vitara with airbag cos i think you cant leagilly body lift one due to SRS system

SikiD may be the best person to give some advice on lifting your Vitara or add to what I have to say as such. Depending on what you are trying to accomplish I suppose.

My mate who SikiD and I have been helping lift his Vitara 91 model now has a 3" body lift which requires adding extended brake lines and extending the shifters both gear stick and transfer stick.

He has a 3" suspension lift, this was required to clear his 31 Baja claws that he bought, we also needed to manipulate the guards a little on the inside to stop them from hitting the tire on full flex. So depending on what you want to clear and if your chasing flex. My mate is now going to be fitting a 3" calmini lift kit.
