I thought you would be interested in this. My turbo has a modded pump, 3" straight through exhaust, alloy intake plumbing, donaldson air box.
She has 101.1kw on the rear wheels @ 4000rpm and 532.9Nm on the rear wheels @ 2700rpm. Get this, she is only running 8psi with no cooler. That was the last Dyno run, and we have made improvements since and she has increased slightly since, maybe 5-10% increase in power.
The most important thing that we did when we made this kit was to keep the air speed up, 1 x 90 degree bend = 3 feet of straight tube, so, if you keep the bends to a minimum and keep it short you gain more power.
Oh and of course more fuel helps.

Try AXT Diesel (Andrew ) or AG Diesel ( Ozy ) both giving me advice that the standard turbo is fine if you like low and mid range power around the 20 - 25%, top end will increase but only around 10%. This is the set up I'm going for as I don't rev mine hard. Both said also the MTQ set is good as well but they modify the original turbo and AXT / AG have seen the turbo's fail when they are machined out. Don't get me wrong they didn't say who did the modifications on them so what MTQ do maybe ok. But I'm going with either AXT and AGDiesel and there set up is with a max of 550oC exhaust temp before the turbo with the vechicle on a rolling dyno.

The one thing no one has mentioned about all these upgrades is the CLUTCH.

I have a TD6 which I put on a 3" exhaust and had it tuned by JPC. This is a great inprovement for little money.

I have considered changing to a roller bearing turbo and increase the power more. While I am happy to pay for this its the other $1000 plus needed to change the clutch once it sh*ts itself. So what was going to be say $2500 mod then becomes $3500-$4000.

The Nissan clutches dont last all that long without any mods so I cant see them lasting with all the extra power and torque.

Cheers

actualy the only person to mention this was ATOC, it was his first question - how many klms on the clutch...

Valid point though. Although the Auto will fix that problem :)

First is standard td42t with 3" exhaust and dump pipe, boost adjustment and fuel to suit.

2nd is a vehicle that came to us already highflowed but lacking a little, had a dts i/c, exhaust, we set boost and fuel to suit.
Image

3rd is our high performace setup, modified pump, owner supplied turbo, i/c and manifold to suit.

I'm happy to see the dyno sheets are up. In regards to clutches, I feel that it depends on a few things, ie: how many km's its done, how you drive it and how far you go with the power setup.

To put this into context, I have a 80 series, 1hdt, 375,000km, 70% more power than standard, same for torque I think and as far as I know its still got a standard clutch. Do I give it heaps, you bet. 100 or more dyno runs, drags up hills, towing and 4wding, its still going strong.

When it decides to pack its lunch, then I will replace it with something better.

So at the moment, every power up we have done has not needed to be upgraded in the clutch department.

I hope this helps with some queries.

Good work, boys. I like the first dyno sheet, pretty much what I'll be doing, me thinks.

Good bang for buck!

I want the power of 3 with reliability and economy of 1 :D

110kw would be nice I reckon.
Would be interested to see what sort of fuel economy changes the 3 create.... cant make power without fuel

bogged, Im running a fuel pump and boost along the lines of the stage 3 that Andrew does at Diesel Tec and fuel economy is not something I have closely followed, as its to much fun to drive and you end up putting your foot into her a lot more. Yes she is using more fuel, I did a pretty hard beach run over the weekend ( including 16kms bush 4x4 driving and 6-8kms of soft beach) plus a couple of quick blasts around the soft fire breaks and she would of used a good 20-30L. When I get some road Kms i will have a better idea.

According to MTQ Adelaide my pump timing was out by a bit. Fuel timing is part of the fuel optimising/maximising.

WTF 140kw
No Way! A mate who got JPC to do his setup is running a garret ballbearing turbo, front mount intercooler, modded pump and 3inch exhaust is getting 130kw at 24psi boost. He is having nothing but dramas with overheating etc. Running a disco potato or an MTQ machined turbo, 3inch exhaust and a good tune will get around a 100kw and it will be reliable.
Bogged, interested in what Darren from ATS does, got any idea?
DUDE roller bearing turbo's and a desent intercooler can pull 174.8kw standerd internals of a deisel o yer and a tweaked fuel pump

read Sparky thread for what a non kit system can do. I have no Idea whats in there, ok well I know a little but not details. But it did 178rwkw's on 35's with 4.1 gears in 30plus heat. Think it was 35+ that day.

I think his problem all started when he went to JPC.
There intercoolers are junk.

24psi boost and only 130kw? I think there are large problems there.

Darren does a great setup at ATS down at Geelong too, but just too hard to get to and home from here.
