80s series and barn type doors?

Post by SuPaTrUpA »

Do they come out with barn doors on the back or are they all the up and down type doors?

Missus wants a nissan because it has the barn doors, I would prefer the toyo cause the availability of parts in the outback is better.

I would also want a diesel, was it an option for the barn doors on the more expensive models.

We are looking at going around Aust with a caravan attached so comfort would be an advantage.

i think the barn doors were only on the Pov packs, the tail gate types are great gives you a cooking area and a little bit of shelter

a pov pack also good for touring...

ie, less electrics etc to break!

a set of comfy seats and they are ok, as long as ya dont mind the hard work of winding the windows down?

also agree that the tailgate is an advantage though

The pov packs also have part time 4wd for cheaper cruising....

The retro fit idea is bug $$$$ as the mounts for the hinges are completely different.

Most pov packs are diesel anyways as telstra and othe gov dept's bulk bought heaps back when they were new.

That is because there is no requirement for Nissan Parts in the outback they dont break  :finger: :D

The Barn doors on the 80, and Hundg open up better than the Nissan. I dont like the Tailgate cause it get in the way, Like walking up to the back of the car. You can pull the inner skin off the larger door and fit a table (build yerself) that will comfortably hold roadside cooking gear.

Heaps of people tour Nissans I wouldn't let the parts thing be an issue. Servicing on Toyota's is robbery. But if you go POV pack you can do most of it yourself and just haul it to a shop for the Valve and timing belt jobbies. I did this with my Lux

If you were worried about break down then you would rather the POV pack anyway less electrics gasper 4.2d etc.

Get one and put in Luxurys' you might like. Seats from wreckers etc...
