You can make anything fit

Post by LOCKER »

You can make anything fit if you modify enough, like modifing the firewall back and the transmission higher & wider. So if I can get over dimensions of the engine & the allison gearbox I can start designing the relevant changes.

There are other options where you dont have to hack and root everything to get it to fit. I spoke with 3 'reputable' 4b mod people who said they wouldnt touch it, as its been tried, and wasnt worth it.. I couldnt find out which one of them had tried it though...

if your not worried and can "modify the firewall back and the transmission higher & wider" then just by the gear and go with it.

No offence champ. But if you want the demisions of this engine gearbox combo. Whats the point in asking in the Nissan section. When you already know its a big motor. And its not likly to be done before.

Now best spot to check would be google or maybe someone on Pirate4x4.com know.
As for the engine it sounds nice and have heard that the gearbox is very sweet bit of kit. But wouldnt have a clue if it would fit.

what 6.9 was it though? dimensions could be million miles different to the Duramax, which is a big Cookie of a hunk of metal...

The Duramax is a BIG engine, the Allison auto is a HUGE auto.

To fit this combo into a Chevrolet Silverado GM had to raise the body mounts to clear the transmission then a 2 1/2 inch raise in the bonnet over light duty models.

If you've ever seen how big a Silverado is under the bonnet you'll understand how big these things actually are.
