mmm I am with Grimbo on this. Cheezy bars may look better. But alot of the tube bars that are on the market arent stronger than ARB. They would have to be the strongest bar on the market. As well as some of the other designs. Yes they flex but they want flex as much as most tube designs. And I have seen both designs hit trees.
But tube bars appear to have less flex and stronger. But really it is more likely to be the case that they are less likly to hit the ground.

Fair comments for sure turps.

sickgq...You don't see comp trucks running around with the stocker bars because they need to be heavly modded to take a highmount, which is what all most all comp trucks run.

On style of bars IMHO it's horses for courses. I'm not saying ARB bars are no good, quite the opposite they're excellent, if they suit your purpose. But for a winch comp truck it's very hard to beat a cheezy "style" tube bar for a number of reasons, approach angle, strength in the cradle area, weight, access to the truck when trying to fix it, much easier to stand on and work on the truck. Yes an ARB bar might come up better after hitting a tree than a cheezy bar, I've seent his too and it wasn't pretty, but I wouldn't assume so with all tube bars.

Thats about the going rate (trade) at most nissan dealerships for the GQ winch bullbar. ;)

It's just most people don't relise how cheap genuine Nissan parts can be. I always check genuine prices before going aftermarket because most of the time genuine is cheaper.

Comp trucks only run tube bars for approach angles and weight reasons, the type of winch doesn't even come into it as you can fit a hi mount into low mount bars by cutting out grille.the only reason they run these bars is because they can afford to replace grille/lights /guards/bonnet after each outing.

Just did 80k service on my GU, these are the price Nissan wanted for parts
Swivel Hub Kit $241.20- Aftermarket kit (A/M)was $151 inc delivery
Oil Filter $31.65 A/M $19.51
Fuel Filter $63.30 A/M $19.46
Air Filter $33.40 A/M $17.67

Total saving to me was $177.64. All the parts were Japanese made

Going genuine certainly wasn't a cheaper option from my local Nissan dealer

I was mainly refering to trade prices. There not trade prices by the looks of it. If you can get it at trade prices there usually the same price or close to the price of aftermarket.

Central coast 4wd wreckers wanted $750 for a secondhand turret and I paid $600 for a new genuine one so it's pays to shop around. ;)
