Feroza Tow Bar

I have been looking to get a tow bar fitted to my Fez. There seems to be a large variation in tow capacities for the feroza depending on who instals it, form 900kg to 1500kg but nobody seems to be able to tell me how far it will sit down.
I was wondering if any body could tell me how far down the feroza tow bar sits off the back of the car. Does it get knocked alot? Any photos of the tow gear on your rig.

My towbar on the Rocky is stock, although we have strengthened it so it will never move again!

It does get caught up a little coz I can see mud clagged up on it after mud runs...

The Hayman-Reese (1000kg rated) will hang the lowest, as the support must go between the chassis rails to gain the extra strength.
(I think these are available for Feroza's... not overly sure though)

The stock one bolts to the plate just below your rear door, and is only held on with them 4 bolts.

Are you planning to tow with it? If so, what type of thing?

If you are just planning to snatch from it.. it won't be strong enough.

Be carefull bolting to the stock mount. If the tongue of the towbar is lower than the mount by much it has significant leverage and will bend the mount. This is very common so be very carefull.

I am nervous about the stock mount even for recovery so look for a stronger option.

This is exactly what happened with mine.

The tongue bent upwards with the leverage, and busted the welds on the stock mounting plate.



You can see here that it pushed it up into the metal below the rear door

This is why we attached the lower section to the RHS which runs between the chassis rails, and also redid the welds for the stock mounting plate (It was onlt welded on each outside). It removes this leverage.
It's not moving anywhere now

3rd go I got him out.. and towbar was gooone

I think i might put strengthening on the to-do list for my rocky after seeing that.
