S4 RH and 31" MT
S4 RH and 31" MT
Hey all,
Would S4 Rockhopper T case gears + 31" MT+ stock Wt diffs be way to over geared for highway driving. I can get these gears for a good price so i am wondering how it will perform on road as its my daily driver and i do 350km per week. Any1 have any idea what rpm this combo would produce at 100km/hr.

What octane fuel are you using?sanger wrote:Yea suppose thats not to bad. Just gotta figure out how to stop my engine pinging so when i get the gears it can handle the extra rpm. Any tips on how to do this?
I was told when i bought my zuk that the engine pinged with regular fuel but didn't with a little higher octane so thats what I use, and it works fine, but I havn't tried using regular octane yet so I'm just going by what i was told.

Im running s3 and 31 simexs and 3.9 ratios instead of 3.7's. Sits at 3700 at 100 and is quite driveable. For a 1.3, a pretty good combo.
you know you want one
Going with Optimax or similar may be overkill a bit for what you'll probably need, I only need premium which doesn't hurt the wallet as much as going with Optimax, and for some reason I am remembering someone telling me that octane from Optimax is too high, but that may be something totally different that im rememberingsanger wrote:yea i think thats where i am comin unstuck
I'm using ethanol fuel which is cheep but has crap all octane bout 91 RON i think. Will have to try some Optimax or something similar.
See what happens

Hope this helps

You'd probably need 2" springs and cut a fair bit out of the guards if keeping is spua. Else going spoa would probably clear it without the need for cutting.sanger wrote: But as for fitting 33"s what mods apart from 2 " bodylift and 1" shackle lift are needed?
98 WT LWB Maruti, 1.6efi, rockhoppers, 2" body lift, 2" springs, 32" BFG muddies, jimny Power Steer, front lockrite :-)

If he choses to go SPOA with extended shackles, then he prob wont really need much trimming at all with 33's, depending on the way he sets it up and how much flex he wants. To stay SPUA 2 inch lifted springs, bodylift and shackles, then maybe a virtual lift and a bit of playing round should do it. If you wanted to cut it up bit more, you could do it without the bodylift. Stumpeds new body can clear a 33 easy with just 2 inch springs and shackles.zooker wrote:You'd probably need 2" springs and cut a fair bit out of the guards if keeping is spua.
