Having no under bonnet room for a compressor had the "brilliant" idea of fitting it under the passengers seat. After a bit of work - turned out well ( IMO ).

If I could post a pic I would but don't seem to be having any luck...... Any suggestions on how ?

So if your short on space ( and which Daihatsu isn't ) worth considering.

What did you do with your jack? Would have thought the driver's seat would have been easier due to it not having anything under it standard?

There is quite a few electrical connections under the passenger seat as well, be carefully when drilling.
There is plenty of room under the drivers seat, I've jammed 2 amps there, one on top of the other.

It wont get too hot and risk over heating in there will it?

I imagine there'd not be too much airflow over it to keep it cool when refilling four (or more) tyres at the end of a days drive.

Strange comment re the jack... Mine is in the back clamped to the rear roll bar. Looks factory to me, so I am assuming other models have their jack under the passengers seat ?

Why the passengers seat - well the rooms the same and the slight vibration when the compressors running is better for the passenger than me ( ie - passenger comes a distant second ). Also didn't want to have no drivers seat whilst building it.

As for temperature - lots of clearance around the unit and none of the compressors I could find had any type of cooling fan I could see...
Did think of fitting a small computer style cooling fan but so far hasn't had to work hard. Is a "Supercheap" model .25 hp. Have pulled it apart and it looks OK. Has a propper foam air cleaner fitted so should handle the bush.

Its running a pressure switch that cuts it out at 60PSI so it looks after itself when turned on.

I have a little broken mount thingy for the jack under the P/S but my jack roams about freely, rolling front to back to driveside and back again, depending on the angle i'm on :D

Well to be truthfull mine is now in the tool box as the clamp thing wasn't really out of the way of the shovel and axe - so it got unbolted.

There's just no way that my jack ( which is a bottle type jack ) could be accessed under the seats - even though there's space.

Sounds like your seat base is different as well.

It sort of sits right at the back of the passenger seat, it sticks out a bit. It sounds like the same type of jack though?

Well - if anyone wants the rollcage based jack mount its free or more practically visit a hatsu wreckers.

Apart from it being visible its a very functional design -absolutely no chance of moving.
