Have you broken a tyre?

Post by LuxyBoy »

Guys i am just after feedback of who has broken a lug on a tyre.

Please include:
Tyre Type
Tyre Size
Vehicle it was on
If possible an explanation of what you were doing at the time eg. line lock on bitumen, crawling/gassing it up a rock face or tree root in mud

(NO SIDEWALL PUNCTURES PLEASE)
Kind Regards,
Brad

Heaps of tears and chunks missing off all my tyres - mostly on shaley, loose rock and other rock climbs, etc. My current tyres are Simex 35x11.5 R15's and they have a few splits and tears, and a couple of chunks missing here and there. These have by far been the toughest tyre i've owned, but i have never had a whole lug missing before:shock:

Broken lugs off all 4 Kumho 31" M/T's, punchered all 4 in the tread (about 12 punchers in all) and tore the sidewall out in one of them, all done by rocks. RIP 4 x Kumho muddies :?
Got MTR's now, 1 cracked lug doing the same stuff and no flats :)

Torn several lugs/chunks off a 31x10.5 Bridgestone Desert Dueller, gassing it on sharp rocks probably to blame. Tires were on a diesel Hilux and a diesel GQ at different times.
