I am wanting to buy a car interstate and was wondering if doing a $200 odd check is worth while. It is a highly modded truck (8inch lift ect.) which is going for around 12k. The bloke is a police officer and is a 4wd club member and I believe him when he says it hasn't had any prangs. Just wanting to know if the inspection will pick up anything such as bent chasis rails which may have occured with hard core 4wdriving (does this happen).
On the other hand nrma might just pick on it cause it has been modded and it might put me off buying it. I am not adverse to fixing up small things (even a new donk) but just want to make sure it won't have to be written of from a major floor.
Thanks.

i'd get the check done.
i was looking at the gq ute that was at a car once, and the dealer said it was his dads drive car 1 owner since new, but no log book. i paid the 200 for racq to do the check and it came back with 4 pages of stuff that needed doing, most of it little time demanding things. i showed the dealer and he reckon that the list was BS, didn't come down in price, so i didnt buy it.
its worth doing, you never know what it will pick up.

I would get it done, I know of several people who have done them and I have too - if they pick up one of two things you don't you can at least know what needs doing and you can use it to negociate.

"It was just an ordinary day, and you saw them. There were guys in their Porsches, "Look at me in my Porsche, ha ha!" and they were overtaken by a van. Driven by a girl!"
I was buying a BJ73 from QLD to salvage parts in my rebuild. $130 check gave me ammo to drop the price by $1500. If everything is good then it was a $130 insurance. At least you know exactly what you're getting
