questions about body and carb to EFI

Hi. I'm (obviously) new here and I have a couple of questions about the Feroza. I'm no expert on these things so bare with me..

I'm from Malaysia and i have a 1990 model with HD-C engine (local spec). Recently it was in an accident and turned turtle. I was going to write it off but then found a nice body for it. I'm not sure exactly what year and model it is but it's a Rocky with the newer headlights.

The people at the shop where I got the body from said it was a Japan spec but that's about all they know. And although the little 'caution/warning' stickers inside were in Japanese, there are 'Canterbury of New Zealand' stickers on the side of the car and badges on both front seats. There are two plates on the right side of the roof (front and back) with four little holes in each plate. Any idea what they're for? A rack maybe? And there's what seems to be a small flag pole on the front bumper. Anyone know more about this type of body?

Second question is, I want to convert the HD-C to an HD-E but according to the mechanic I have a few parts missing. I need a pump (he said something about the HD-C using an AC or IC pump?) and some wires (which run from the EFI head to the injectors). Now, do i have to get these parts off the same engine or can I use parts from a different engine?

Any help is much appreciated.

Ofcourse u can find parts from other engines or other brands but can u post up a picture of the body you found? But why u want to change the engine? But if u change the wiring and all that stuff u will have better fuel economy and more boost.

Usually when converting from Carburetted to EFI people remove the entire engine head from another vehicle. This is because you need to remove the carby you have on at the moment, and install a head with fuel injection.

So roughly you'll need:: injectors, high pressure fuel pump, replace all fuel lines and fuel filter with high pressure ones, EFI fuel tank?, air intake and airbox.

Also, I don't know if the Feroza's run an ECU to control the EFI.. if so, you'll need that too.

This is taken from a Patrol thread, though it will be fairly similar between most carby->EFI conversions.

well if you want to go stock you need the following

first scrap the Carby and Inlet Manafold.

Next you need to get the EFI Manifold, Injectors, Loom, Computer, Fuel pump, Dizzy, and exhaust sensor as well the the inlet sensors, Throttle position sensor.

you will need the new dizzy as the EFI one doesn't have any mechanical or vaccum advances, the ECU controls the spark timing as well as the injection system.

Thanks for the replies. The EFI head I have comes with the intake manifold and I have the airbox as well. The sensors, dizzy and injectors should be there. But I know I dont have the pump and wiring. If the conversion is possible then I will get the ECU. But the fuel tank.. do I need to replace the entire thing or just a pump?

I want to change the engine because it should be better fuel economy and I plan to do other mods that require EFI in the future.
