Difference between LX & LT Sports TF Rodeos?

Post by rainsey »

Hi all..

With all this NCOP crap going on I am trying to figure out what is and is not legal on my particular model being a 98 R7 LX. The rules seem to indicate 50mm larger tyres from what is available on the vehicle, but my tyre placard states only a 205R14 (making a 31" illegal).

Looking at the workshop manual the LT sport came with 245/70R-16 on 7" rims.

So... 3 questions:-

1: If the LT has bigger tyres.. why??? What is the difference between the LT sport and the LX

2: Do the rules state 50mm over size to my particular model or 50mm over the range of vehicle that was in manufacture at the time?? Am I bound by the bloody placard on my model??

3: Is there a track difference between the LX in 6" rims standard and the LS on 7"??

Bottom line is that guys in my car club are indicating that cops are pinging folks with oversize tyres lately. My 285/75's are to say the least a wee bit big for around the town usage so for general use ( and they are not wearing so well on the tarmac) I will run a second set but still want to go as big as I can legally go!!

Cheers

I've had this same thought as well rainsey. Maybe you could be sneaky and get a tyre placard of a LT sport at a wreckers ;)

Dont you mean 205R16 Rainsey?

The LT/LX are model options not models themselves.
The model is a TF R9 and the largest size tyre was a 31X10.5 (16" I think) on the LT Sports and alloy rims.

Timbo's idea sounds good :D

Doh!

Sudso.... spot on... 16 inch rim, not 14. Timbo..... bloody good idea. Don't know about a wrecker but I might ring Holden spares to see if they have on in stock.
