80 series body lift - HELP - Update

Post by g35me »

just started a body lift tonight on my 80. And damnit I'm stuck on the first set of bolts next to the radiator. When you remove the nuts from the body mounts underneith arent the bolts then meant to slide out from the top? I have bashed the crap out of them from undreneith and they are not moving up. What is going on? Thanks

The bolts will be rusted and seized in. I had the same problem, jack the body up a bit to help dislodge them and spray in heaps of wd 40....

Brian
The front mounts have a single bolt through the midle, and two small threadded bolts on the outside to attatch the mount to the Radiator support...you need to undo the centre one to lift the body, leave the other bolts done up to the RSP...

So this is where I am at tonight. I put the jack under the front bolt next to the radiator and then jumped up and down on the bullbar about 50 times and it finally come free.

I then removed the one near the pedals with out to much problem then the one just behind the drivers seat spins top and bottom but the nuts wont come loose. Unfortunately I have now rounded the bolt and tomorrow night I will attenpt to gring the nuts off which hopefully I can just slide the bolt out. We will see.

Its a 3FE auto. I picked up my Marks Adapters kit today and I get my 350 chev next week (It is still being built). So in about 3 weeks it will be a chev V8.

OK...have cut off the bolt in the centre under the drivers seat. Made a mess of the body mount bracket but I will worry about that later. Removed the bolt under the rear seats, got the wife to use the rachet while I was underneith looking up her skirt :)

How has everyone bolted the rear mount on. I cant fit the extended bolt through the gap in the body. Do you put the bolt in upside down and the nut is done up in the body cavity?

I put the rear bolts in mine upside down, i know people have drilled holes up top to drop them in but i dont see the point in that... It makes no difference if they're in the wrong way...
