Post by Frankenyota »

Hey guys wanted to know who has fabbed up there own winch mounts, or modified there bull bars to suit.
Have a winch bar that i was going to make mounting brackets for to suit the lux.
If done properly does anyone see a problem with this sugguestion?

winch fitment

Post by noelb1 »

as long as it is not an airbag vehicle there is no problem the tjm t13 hilux bar doesn't have a winch cradle it just bolts into the bar. run some 5-8 mm strapping where the winch bolts into and weld it to the bar brackets for strenght .

Hey

Yeh i just recently finished modding my bar to fit a Hi-mount, it was just a normal arb or toyota factory winch bar. I just added a 10mm bisely (sorry if spelling aint right im a carpenter not a boiler maker) steel inside the bar and as a bit overkill added four extra gussets, this seems to work fine.

No airbags on my 83 lux, so no drama's there. The bar is for a 75 series cruiser so fitment may be the drama?
Will have to design mounts to bolt it on, then trim it up. Was considering just using the cradle but maybe it's easier to start from scratch?
