I know this has been asked before, but I am looking for a bit more info.
I am looking at converting my 94 model 80 series onto gas, I have a few concerns these being economy, loss of power(should still turn 35's ok?), potential problems with back firing and poor running and also clearance issues with the tank.
LPGas1 in Lilydale quoted $3200 plus about an extra $1200 if I wanted gas injection but they woulgn't recomend it for my car.(I don't really think they wanted the work as the are booked till mid next year). They put me onto another guy in Lilydale who quoted about $2500 but recomended a tank with 75 usable lt, to keep maximum clearance.
I am just curious to find out other peoples experiances with gas(I know nothing yet) and if it is really worth the money savings verses the potential problems and power loss. Any help would be appreciated and economy reports.

I experience no loss in power with LPG vs Petrol on my 80. I have 80 usable litres in a tank under the rear of the chasis with 35inch tyres and it still bottoms out on the tank.....it freaks me out everytime.

Only about 300k's but remember it is a 3FE. Berwick Springs.

What size tyres are you running Brian? (Nevermind, I read things this time.. :oops:)

I've got a 76L tank in my 60, and I can get ~360km out of a tank, and that's with the 3F with me with the boot to the floor most of the time. You'd think the 3FE would be better?

I recently had my 1993 Landcruiser converted. It cost me $3300 which included a Kaymar rear wheel carrier. I run 285/75/16 BFG M/T's with a 70mm lift. Mine is also an auto.
There is a loss of power but after a week of driving on LPG, you don't miss it. I get around 30l / 100km in peak hour city driving. I'm not sure on a country trip but I reckon it would be around 25l - 26l / 100km. Great thing about the Landcruiser is that you keep the main tank and only lose the sub tank so you get extended touring range. The LPG tank hangs down less than my spare did so I've also increased the offroad ability. My tank is 110 litre with 90 usable.
The money saving is great. It's about a third of the cost.


Oh, and it's one of the best things I've done.

My 100 series 1FZ-fe is on gas i get about 360+ ks out ofmy 90 litres usable tank.

I hardly notice the differance in power and mine is a auto

the tank hangs down a bit

The cost savings deinately seem worth it. Did they have to move your exhaust. I was just looking under mine and I reckon it will need to be changed.
