Roll Cages

Post by ToNkA »

Want to get one for the lux some time in the not too distant future. Was looking at the allpro ones but can't remember if they just bolt to the floor or through to the chassis.

Who has an internal cage, and how is it mounted?

Or is it worth just doing an exo? If I could find a neat design to copy to just protect the cab it would be good.

Any views, ideas?

We're halfway though building one for my sierra...

The mouting for it will be:

Front Footwell Mounts: onto large plates bolted throght the floor onto another place on the undernieth of the floor. (there is no chassis near by)

B Pillar and C Pillar: onto large plates bolted through the floor onto another piece of tube that will be attached to the chassis. (this will effectively mean we are mounting to the chassis - but will be able to remove the cage when the body is stuffed enough to make it worth replacing.

I chose the internal cage over the external because I wanted to keep the overall dimensions of the car small, and i'm willing to replace the body when it needs to be done (not the end of the world on a little car like a sierra).

Cheers
