Updates please on the best value deep cycle batteries out...

Looking for a deep cycle and have not seen any recent posts.

Any recommendations on batteries and where I can get them?

I scored a couple of 100Ah 6V sealed batteries which unfortunatley seem to be stuffed, which is a shame because they fitted nicely under each front seat with a strong bracket I made up. Maybe I should look for 2 of these again, maybe not.

I think, at work we keep the optima deep cycles, they have a life time of approx 7ys i belive. Im sure they do come in a few diffenert sizes as well.

but a fair pricey. also sell alot of amptechs, dont know much about them though.

I went through this recently, and bought a FullRiver 80Ah AGM battery (largest I could fit in my tray.) In terms of Ah capacity per dollar, I thought it was great value at $255 delivered.

The battery in your pic looks very similar construction - only a different colour. $264 for 100Ah sounds a great price, if the quality is there - not that I have any reason to doubt it.

i have been told that an AGM wont handle the heat, if installed under the bonnet ?
anybody any experience of this?
i will be looking at fitting one next year and was going to mount it on my fridge slide and use a Redark issolator.

I looked at value for money, and went with a Bosch/Century N70 75ah 'wet' battery. At about $145 from supercheap (or $115 during a 20% off sale) the price was right. I've got 2 of them - one's almost 4 years old and still going strong, despite a couple of *really* deep cycles I was happy enough with them to buy another one a month or two ago.

Not saying anything bad about AGM batteries, I just couldn't warrant the expense, and the advantages of an AGM like long charge hold, non-spill etc weren't important in my application.

When I really need to carry a decent power reserve, I have a bank of 15x20ah SLA batteries in the back as well.

I looked at the temperature ratings on the FullRiver web site, and concluded I was happy. I was particularly worried about charge voltages, but I found nothing to be concerned about.

I recently picked up a Delkor DC27. 80Ah fully sealed for $160.

I went with a Fullriver AGM battery as my secondary battery as they apparently mix well with different type "starting" batterys.

I went with the AGM type purely for their fast recharge ability compared to a traditional deep cycle battery. I reckon that a traditional battery is the best value for starting duties.

I was reading about a "deep cycle and starter battery in one" on a site somewhere last night.
Cant remember the name of the battery or the site now but it was pretty exxy: about $340 and 160 A/hr

I have exactly the battery pictured, in a portable battery box. Works very well. have had no charging issues and runs everything quite happily at camp for a couple of days. If I were to do it again I would have bought a battery with conventional automotive style lugs. The 100 AH Remco that I have ( and the one pictured ) use a small bolt in the top of a terminal set just below the top of the battery body. Not a good design for high-current applicatons.
