Dont know what model or condition yours is in but I'm getting 1500 for a 97 disco 3.9/zf auto and transfer with 100K on the clock complete. In sydney there worth less than in qld.

It's only worth 1500 because of the ZF.

If the 5 speed is an LT77 they are worth nothing so that leaves $300-500 for the motor and $250-500 for the transfer. If the gearbox is an R380 (most likely) they are about $500 second hand.

So it all depends on exactly what you have.

Stick it on ebay, you'll get at least $1500 just for the motor, probbably $2500- $3500 for the whole lot - depending on the k's of course.
You are dreaming if you think you can get a3.9 for under $1000 that doesnt require a rebuild.

i very much doubt it. there was an entire whole damaged disco on ebay (light roll) that went for just over 1k. I have also seen a t boned vouge on ebay for 1500 complete. No way you would get more than 1k for a motor.

i think a fair price would be 1200 in nsw and 1500/1700 in qld.

Call around all the wreckers and see what they quote you, you may be able to get a wreck but then you have to dispose of it.

Bought a complete 3.9/ZF and LT230 about 6 months ago up here in QLD for $1100-00 It had less than 100K on it. This was also bought from a Rover Dismantler.

They are defianatly out there you just need to keep looking around.

Having posted what i have just posted. When i first blew up my 3.5 a couple of years ago i was looking for a 3.9. Cheapest i could find was in Sydney and he wanted $3500 motor only. Allthough it came complete with harness and computer.

I ended up re-building the 3.5 but later bought the 3.9 i currently have in my Rangie for $1750 in QLD.
