Very nice, good to see mitsubishi seem to be listening to the public and bringing the MIVEC petrol into the range that they have had available for years in japan.... and the shorty again :)

Reading the article it says that it is aiming for extreme off roading markets

Theres no mention of the type of suspension it has as in Coil , IFS . Only that it has stability control.

If Coil does it have longer travel than the standard Pagero.

One newspaper called it the "4th generation" of Pajero, but I think that's a little excessive - suspension is essentially the same, engines are improved (but not completely new?) so I'd still call it a Gen 3 - I suppose time will tell how it's perceived.

It's independent front and rear, with coils. The suspension is basically designed for the Paris-Dakar style racing, which is limited to 10" travel. For comparison, I reckon my Paj (torsion bar front) has only about 6" travel at the front - but mine has a "droop stop" and the coil front vehicles don't.

It's a classic case of marketing hype versus OL reality. Your average marketer's "extreme" 4wd track wouldn't entice your average OL member to find 4wd. :roll:

I think you'll find the new Pajero will make a competent tourer (like all Pajeros before it) and will surprise many 4wders on medium to hard tracks. But "Extreme" it won't be...

I don't know about extreme :roll:
But the rear locker is a very good move can't wait to see the obligatory Paj-Prado-Pathy and (whatever else) shootouts to see if the locker tips the offroad balance in favour of the Paj.
I wonder if the traction control is gone or just deleted if you opt for the locker ?
Me suspects the coil suspension will be the same as the current model (in terms of travel).
Good upgrade for the petrol but I thought the common rail would add some power not rob torque.................

Of course not. It still doesn't have the essential Toyota badges.

Oops. Sorry. I meant live rear axle for superior offroad articulation.

I can't follow that either. I wonder if part of it's something to do with upcoming emissions requirements? Lower emissions being achieved by injecting less fuel? It is disappointing...
