Workbenches
Looking a building a work bench, but not sure how high to build it. I did a couple of mock ups and around 1000mm or just under seems OK to me.
How high are your workbenches???
How high are your workbenches???
you will find that the standard in aust for most bench tops is 900 off the ground but if you are building it your self make it to wat is comfy for you but not too high as you will want to be able to reach the back of it etc

I posed this question previously when i decided to build a work bench, both here and to a few mates who are in tool making.
What i was told is similar to what others have said. Build it to whats comfortable for you. This means, measure the distance from the ground to your elbow when your arm is bent at the waist. This is a good estimate of what height youl want.
I made mine 1m tall, but im 6'5".

Yeah about 900mm for most, but the general rule of thumb is about 4 inches above rooster height.. That's the attatched end of it by the way.
