where to get a diff welded
ok my diff has decided to s**t itself for the second time in a space of 3 months, it appears the diff gears don't like my driving
before I put another diff in I want to have it welded, and I know an airlocker would be better but they don't make em for feroza's.
so where would be the best place in or around Slacks Creek/ Brisbane area to get it welded, or if anyone in the area is confident in doing it ill sling some cash there way.

I'm sure you'll find an exhaust shop/fabricator shop somewhere near Slacks Creek that will weld up your diff for under $50
chimpboy : I have a welded diff in my daily, and it's not that bad to drive - you do have to change your driving habibs to suit, but it's just like driving a normal vehicle.. until you come to carparks, then it's fun!

Just a thought. Driving on a welded rear diff is not all it's cracked up to be - definitely not for everyone.

should have a new centre by end of the week, thanks to FESTA from www.allfourxfourparts.com. once again he has helped me out with parts and at a good price too. now just need to find someone to weld it

i have a welded front in my vit.
not advised with out PS. you need it. or it will start to bug you off road.
also, will add more strain to your steering box, and all the steering arms, links and ball joints. unlike solid axle steering linkages, IFS has about 50 more parts. and these will wear a lot more quicker. i had to replace all my ball joints as the welded front finished off the old ones.
if you cant afford power steer, get a steering wheel off a bus or something similar, or maybe a mack. will be similar to power steer anyway.
front diff is no probs with any locker, as long as you have MANUAL free wheeling hubs. auto hubs are not ideal, and drive flanges are a definate NO.
EDIT: because i have a modified vehicle, i have to go over pits every year for rego. i have a welded front and a lock right in the rear, and they haven't said anything at all. AND i have a lock-right sticker on the rear pumpkin! dumb dumbs.

after removal of old diff this is what I found
thanks for all your help guys. new diff is in and welded, cost $40 and turn around was a couple of hours. was done by RD INDUSTRIES 38078711 at beenleigh.
put new diff in on friday night and went for a quick bash, geez it has made the roza more capable offroad but there are a few things that will take to get used to. forget trying to drive on hard stuff in 4x4 because you cant steer but in gravel/ dirt its fine, will need to keep an eye on steering joints etc for wear.
cant wait for the CITYVIEW TRIP on the 15th OCT

nah mate, after I put diff in, I locked in hubs and drove up my drive way to make sure everything was turning ok, but steering was almost imposible. thats how I know about the hard stuff. Thats what people say when they try to drive my car, but u get used to it. I go out all day and dont even notice how hard it is, I dont come home with sore arms. we call it popeye steering but im not a big fella. I can still keep in the twisty stuff untill it gets real slow and real twisty but the open boys cant come close to following my lines when the going gets rough.
