where does the 4.2Diesel come from?

Post by smac »

hi,

just wondering if anyone knows where Nissan gets the 4.2 Diesel from? as they dont sell it overseas, only here in Aust - which is fairly suprising seeing as we are such a small marketplace.

other countries must have just got the 2.8 TD and now the 3.0TD (Beside petrol motors)??

cheers,
Shem

Be Nissan Diesel I would think, logo is white UD in a red circle, it's just been sold to another company though, it's name is in the wiki website.

yep heard the forklift story also. Think I even googled it one day and got forklifts. Also Nissan Civilain buses had them.
The TB42 I also found reference to the forklifts.

What do you need exactly? I've just pulled the TD42 out and will be completely rewiring it for the new motor. Still using the Patrol auto but I have some spare bits. I'm putting a VH45 in with Link ECU and manual shift auto so we figure it will be better to just start from scratch.
93 Nissan Pathfinder / Terrano Turboed VH45, GQ Trans and T-case, coil overs, hydraulic winch and fair bit of other stuff. (Currently a pile of parts in the workshop)

Converting a manual to auto, want bits.

Recond or newish GQ Auto Box with Torque Converter and drive plate.
Auto Pedal Box out of GU Auto
TBar and assembly with linkages.
Center Console out of GU Auto, light grey.

Europe got TD42's but not a lot.

S. America didn't get the 4.2 unless maybe in an import or special order truck. The same for the SD33 in S. America. Diesel Patrols not very common in S. America. Most are petrol due to cost of fuel. They did get some diesels but not a lot of them and most at the 3L and 2.8L. The P40 on the other hand is very common and so is the TB42 down in the jungle.

Yes, but only from UD Trucks (Nissan Diesel America): http://www.udtrucks.com/index.htm I doubt if there is much in the way of cheap go fast parts. I have already tried some of the on-line shops to see if there was anything for me. You can google away also. I have not found anything yet. For most of the parts sites, I have to research each model of truck and try to match the engine to that in my 91 Safari. Just don't have the time for that now. If you find anything, let me know. Cheers,
John
