Coily front diff
Coily front diff
Does anyone know if there is a locker that is a straight fit for the coily front diff? I've searched around on here and there's a few mentions of modifying the ARB Jimny one to fit, but I'd rather get a straight fit.
other than the modified jimny arb air locker thats it as far as i know
you could pull your centre and weld that would bolt straight back in

TOYZUKI 96 coily zook,lux diffs, 3 inch suspension lift,3 inch body lift, 33'sMTRS,series 4 hopper,power steer,twin air lockers,4 LINK front and rear,2 inch spacers(GOT WIDTH)
doesnt affect anything while the hubs are unlocked
dont know if its leagle or not
but i would weld it anyways they are never going to know its welded and it would never matter provided the hubs are unlocked

I've got front and rear lock right's and you can't tell while the hubs are unlocked but when they are you'll be able to tell!
I need power steering!
But the cop's wont know if you have a welded front unless they open your diff up on the side of the road and even then they probably wont be able to tell!

Built swb sierra, building a lwb sierra ute and have a dmax for family camping
if the mod is illegal but not the cause of the accident you are still screwed. if you are driving around with an illegal mod, you are not road worthy, doesn't matter if it caused the accident or not.zooker wrote:unless the welded front was the cause of the accident, which is unlikely since you drive onroad with the hubs unlocked so it has no effect, it shouldnt affect the insurance.
a welded front would probably not be investigated by an insurance company in a normal smash etc, unless they have reason to believe something in the front end is faulty. you could get away with that.
- but don't forget, doing turns offroad, you car will be useless. most people struggle turning with auto fronts, let along a locked/welded front. think twice about welding the front...

Welding the front Def kills the turning circle and makes for harder steering. Once in the Mud and climbing it is great and if you do it alot it would be worth it, Im assuming since you are talking about doing something for the front you have allready done the back and want more.....? Even with the 4WD not ingaged say driving with 2WD and leaving the hubs locked in for some parts of the track the steering is still affected. I have a locker in the rear and often drive until Im bogged or not going forward now before I lock the front in as it seems over kill most things now.
..wrench, wheel, wreck repeat..

I looked into it and you're correct, it's illegal and my insurance would be void if they found it. That 'have to prove it caused/contributed to the crash' rumour is false. I don't want to chance it, I'll probably just leave it open.Ric wrote:if the mod is illegal but not the cause of the accident you are still screwed. if you are driving around with an illegal mod, you are not road worthy, doesn't matter if it caused the accident or not.

I was actually looking at the front because when the hubs are unlocked you can still steer properly etc, and this car is also my daily driver. Heard a rumour that it's legal to lock the front on a part-time 4x4, but that's not true as far as I can tell.MUD-PIGSIERRA wrote:Im assuming since you are talking about doing something for the front you have allready done the back and want more.....?
I think I'll leave it open, and maybe just an LSD for the rear. I really want to keep my car legal and insurable, in case I crash into a Ferrari/house/small child or something.
