Tyre sizes

Post by LandRoverLyle »

G'day all I am thinking of going from 235/85 R16 to 265/75 R16 for my next set of muddies, from what I can gather the tyre diameter should be more or less the same but the tyre itself will be a bit wider. Has any one else done this? Has it had any effect on steering etc? I have an '01 Fender with a 2 inch suspension lift so I don't think that clearance or rubbing will be a problem. But if any one can tell me differently I'd love to know
Cheers

There should be no probs at all, it's still a relatively small tyre. The lift should help as far as the arches are concerned. You may have to adjust your steering stops to prevent the tyre catching the front radius arm but I doubt it. All depends on your off set on your wheels. Standard or aftermarket?

Should fit without a problem. I'm running 35x12.5x15 on a county/defender with some slight flare trimming

I'm running standard s1 disco steel rims so I should be able to get the wider tyre on, I just don't want to drastically effect my turning circle either, I am currently ranked worlds number four in the three point turn not sure if I want heaps more practice but then again you just have to love the 'Fender

I have a County with 265/75R16 Cooper STTs fitted to Disco 1 Rims. There is a small decrease in turning circle. There is aso some small rubbing on the upper spring mount at the rear then the axle articulates and the spring is fully compressed. Annoying but it doesn't appear to damage the tyre.
