Exo Cage Regulations

Post by toymad »

This has probably been discussed before but,
In Queensland does anyone know the regulations on Exo Cages.
I am in the next weeks going to put a proper double roll bar on the rear of my lux. And may do the front while i'm at it. Will be using 42mm Thick wall tube.

Thanks Gazza :P

My understanding is that you can fo whatever you want because there are no regulations.

An exo is the same as a bull bar with scrub bars, side steps and a roof rack.

Does anyone know what insurance companies think of them?

Gary, you'd be pretty right doing what you want where you live - some of the things that Beau tells me about that happen in your town... ;)

The engineer that I deal with said that "there was no specific regulation relating to external roll cages and as such, they are just classed as an extension of bull bar, side steps and canopies". Besides, we've all seen the vehicles (esp 40 series) with the vertical bars adjacent to the A pillar and the back corner to support roof racks. I cannot see the difference. If you put the barwork inside the vehicle however, there are stringent occupancy safety guidelines to adhere to. Outside the vehicle - no problem to occupants.
