Agreed, more time will also help now that we know we have a confirmed event for next year
Singo17 wrote:Overall Mike I think the balance is right for the OBS course just a few mods that is all pretty much an evo thing anyway. After the ASCC round you might see a N.Q culture change especially if guys like Luke and Matt build trucks in the local area. Therefore harder course structure (prolly a couple of years away yet) but you never know.
Our original thought was to make one course progressively harder until undriveable, but I think this format works better. I reckon we could use some incredibly tough obstacles now. Wouldn't matter to me at all if there was something no-one cleared, in fact I was a little dissapointed that someone changed the Hell Hole to make it easier. The good news is that the wet season will probably wash away most of what's there, so we get to get evil all over again
Singo17 wrote:By the way were you happy with the turn out etc and the local response?
If we were ever happy with this we probably shouldn't be doing it, We'll always be going for bigger, better, brighter. The crowd was a little down on expectations (somewhere around 2000). I did not realise how much free stuff we were competing against on that day until I saw Mondays paper! Will have to look at scheduling for next year. Definitely a lot of work to do to get me happy with the spectacle we provide for the crowd. Having said that though I'll reiterate what I said earlier, I am very proud of the effort put in by the core team and the volunteers.

As a spectator i was disapointed to see people driving around it too, i think the flags were moved.
Funny the yellow recovery cruiser kept turning up before they had finnished there attempt to get out (tyre pit ect)
Also you are right about other local events in Cairns for fathers day, pitty as 1/2 the people were at the Carnival or triathlon !
Good day out !

Maybe Mike a way to introduce these hell OBS is to allow a few optional OBS beside the orignals or modded ones that can earn a bonus points if completed. Say get a 100 point reduction bonus for completion give the unmodded a choice and the guys who easily do the other a go at getting it AWWWWnnnnn (BJ speak) on the tough ones. Then as trucks are more developed delete the easier OBS in the future.
