Typhoon Compressor from www.4wd1.com

www.4wd1.com have a Typhoon Compressor for sale on their website for $297. It has 12 month warranty. Has anyone used one of these or have any comments on them. I am looking for a compressor that is not fixed to the vehicle.

Have had one for a while. Same as Bushranger but with different sticker and twin piston. Probably best choice for the money. I can source them cheaper if you would like.

I bought one from Coventrys in WA for $170 odd

after doing a ring around. Apparantly they had them on special as a new line. Let your fingers do the walking you will be surprised at the difference in prices.

It works fine for me, much better than the cheapy compressor I had before and it appears to have reasonable build quality. One thing I have found is that you have to watch the connection that clips onto the valve as sometimes it will not hold properly and you may leak some air. Though I have found that it pumps my 33x12.5x15's that quick

that it is no real problem to just maintain some pressure with my hand on the connector to ensure there are no leaks. If it starts to be a real problem I will replace it with a different connection.

i've had one of these for a while (differrent stickers) the only problem with it is broken air filters, the plastic is thin around the base. I'm still working on adapting hoses to suck from a remote filter

Part No is TYP150 and it is called a Typhoon (150l/pm).

I would have to say that www.4wd1.com are a real rip off if they are selling the compressor for $297 and other businesses are selling them for $170 and $180. There's no grey area there.

There are no laws on pricing. If you were selling something, would you like to sell it for as much as someone will pay, or would you let it go fo a little above or even below cost?
As was mentioned before, Coventries were selling them cheap on special, as a new line. Coventries are known for selling below cost, so it does not surprise me.
You cannot bag a company for selling at retail. If you find it cheaper elsewhere, buy it there, but don't bag out the company doing the right thing by the manufacturer.
Look at Lightforce, they have pretty fixxed pricing, and your not bagging them out.

I paid $230 including delivery for mine.
Once it arrives I'll let you know what I think of it, but it has to be better than the cheapy I used to use.

We just got these in at work our shelf price is going to be $230.
They seem to put out a crap load of air compared to my ARB.
Havnt done any real testing with them yet but you can really feel the air blowing out ya.

I'm assuming Coventry Fasteners.

Is this a company wide price (ie Melb?) or WA store only?

Not sure.
A few of the Coventrys stores in Perth have shifted their focus to the retail side of things with bigger showrooms etc and this was one of the specials.
I got the same price when I rang the Bunbury store.
But yeah not sure if WA only or not.
