Help needed on changing Fuel filter GU Patrol, I am first time Diesel owner, need advice on efficient way to change filter with no hassles after.
I have a gq patrol, so i cannot speak for Gu's, but all i do is disconnect the water senser lead, unscrew the fuel filter with an icecream container under it to prevent fuel spillage, remove the sensor from the bottom of the old filter and place on the new, rub some diesel on the rubber seals, fill the new filter up with clean diesel and then screw it back on. Make usre its on tight, so that no air gets in, and then start her up.
I thought I would give it a go, (couldn't be that difficult)
1. Disconnect the water sensor wire.
2. Using Oil filter removing tool undo filter.
3. When removed, unscrew bottom plastic fitting.
4. Replace O ring seal (supplied with new filter) and clean if required.
5. Run film of oil around rubber seal on filter.
6. fill filter with Diesel (for priming purposes)
7. screw filter back on and tighten same way as oil filters
8. Pump primer button on top of filter mount until it becomes firm to push.
9. Start engine and run to check for any leaks, retighten with tool if required.
10. Give the old girl a few revs to clear and your done.

Everything else you said, except:
- remove the hoses from the filter. Plug up the hose ends.
- remove bolts holding the filter housing to the bracket then take it to yer shed and remove the filter from the housing and replace with the newy!
- Bolt it back on, reconnect hoses and water sensor, pump like blazes then start her up!!
Don't forget to run some clean diesel round the sensor O-ring when refitting.
