Drivetran Ratios

Post by paid_hitman »

Hey

I've made an excel sheet to help me work out my diff ratio's, transfer ratios and tyre sizes, to let me work out how to keep the highway speeds about the same whilst getting a decent reduction offroad.

Here

I've highlighted the configuration that i'm hoping for, just wondering if ppl can check my numbers, and if i'm dividing and multiplying everything correctly as the "stock" figures i have are a bit out (from speedo), but prob due to worn tyres or something. I got some of the info from

Lots Of Gearing Information for Sierras

And the rest was more or less worked out...
Currently my car is a 91 WT... so double checking the transfer and diff ratios are right.

Are the 91 Wt's a SJ413???

Thanks In Advance.

Yes your zook is an SJ413, however your diff ratios would be 3.7because it is a WT, NT 1.3 zooks have 3.9, Marutis and 1L zooks have the 4.1 ratios. I bring your attention to this because your selected choice in the spreadsheet is one with 4.1 diff ratios so unless you plan to find some WT Maruti diffs its pretty much impossible in a WT zook to have these ratios as the 1L centres are not interchangeable with WT diffs.
I am lucky enough to have a WT Maruti with the 4.1 diffs, 4:16 transfer gears and have a set of 32's and its pretty good on road bout 4000rpm at 100ks, so if you can somehow get these ratios it is pretty much perfect in my eyes.

I'm Currently looking for 4.1 Hilux Diffs... to put under it... but just wanted to put my mind at rest before i made a purchase. :)

Also i was concerned with teh Sj413 thing because
http://www.worcester-networks.com/zookh ... ff_r&p.pdf
says they have a 3.9 ratio? or is that in america only?

Thanks for your reply, pretty much exactly what the sheet says :)

3.9 is the NT ratios. All au spec NT have these.

SJ413 your looking at is the US ones as they love to mix it up a bit in years compared to ours. Technically if yours is a WT then it is the same as the samarai.
