4 link in the front of a GQ

Post by justinshere »

Hey,

Any one put a 4 link in the front of a GQ before? or a 4 link in the front of any road driven 4B?
Pics and info/thoughts would be good.
My concerns were having enough room and being able to get enough flex for a coilover. Just dunno if 5 links will get enough movement, so looking for other options. I already have 18' coilovers but i may get smaller ones if i have to.

Cheers Justin

What style of 4-link, triangulated, or 3link plus panhard. With a triangulated 4-link, the axle will move in a verticle axis, which can create problems if you intend to use a linkage steering setup, not full hydro. As the axle moves vertically, the effective distance between the pitman arm and the steering arm on the hub will change, creating bump steer. If you run a 3link + panhad, and locate the panhard rod parallel and equal length to the drag link, then this will eliminate this bumpsteer. Also consider possible clearnece issues with the upper links and the sump( you can have straight upper links, and triangulate teh lower links to locate teh axle latteraly).

4 link

Well i was tossin up between a triangulated 4 link or 3 link + panhard.

I jus dont know how well the 3link + Pan will handle at high speed on the road? Whos got this in a road driven 4B???

With this setup where do u start? eg length of lowers and the upper arms?

I would triangulate the lowers as much as i can and keep the panhard parallel with the draglink.

I was looking at a landcruiser overkill have done and the panhard was bent and only about 500mm long, i thought that would handle like s#*t!
Am i right or wrong?

Anymore info i can get would be good.

Cheers
