Well I may be a little nieve - but what are the reasons for putting tojo diffs under rovers.

I was reading a couple of back issue of the 4x4 monthly mag - they had a couple of story on a modified Land Rovers - one a Range Rover with toyota 6 cylinder diesel and the other was a modified 100' with complete cruiser gear.
The reason for my question - our daily driven vehicles are toyota but I have a collection of older vintage (series 1 & 11a Land Rover Fire Engines) and I have always wanted a coil sprung series IIa. I am currently doing a little homework prior to starting a major project - has anyone got any pictures of series vehciles modified to coils?

Do a search on Guru also who has coiled up a Series landy for comps. His pics seem to be down now though.

Don't do the spring perches the same way though - I've got factory ones as the finished ones.

With the diffs, what may make it a little difficult for you, is that most suitable diffs like the Landcruiser 40,60,80,100 etc and the Nissan Patrols, they generally (not always) come with 4.1 diff gears, which is perfect for when you increase tyre size. Thats fine for most rovers as they come with 3.54 diff gears and so the change in ratio keeps it closish to stock when the bigger tyres go on. With just about all of the series rovers (excluding the Stage 1's), they come with 4.7 gears, and the only ratio that I can think of that will get you close to the same ratio is in the Hilux diffs, which can be found with 4.88's amongst many others. The problem there is the hilux diffs also come with a centred rear which probably wont be helpful for you driveline angles.
Then again, perhaps lower diff ratios may be handy for a series when on the highway.

You could look at using MQ diesel diff's. This would give you 4.6 ratios and Disc brakes on the front axle. The diffs are the correct off-set for a series Landrover and i think only slightly wider. If your sticking with the Series transfer Case, then to offset the 1.148 high range, you could go to a G60 rear end (H260) which had 4.11's and a corresponding front end in 4.11. Then do as F'nrover has done on here and use a Ford Np435 transmission mated to the Series transfer case... Good crawl ratio and still---sort of looks Rover....
