Do I really need the swaybar, people? How about the highway driving then?
Thanks.

What car mate :?: ;)
I've taken mine off, 84 Rocky Wagon and can hardly feel the difference, but my mate with a Rocky ute reckons his flops around like a rag doll without it. YMMV. Take it off, and take it easy to get a feel for it. I'd say for the extra flex you get it's prolly worth it, but then again, it only takes 5 mins to put em on/off so may aswell just take em off for offroad and leave it on for the tar ;)

Take it off, go for a drive on road and off and I guarantee you WON'T want to put it back on.

Just remember that it isn't exactly "legal" to remove your swaybar, but of all the fourbies I've ever had, I've NEVER had anybody notice. :D

On a Feroza with different springs - find it hard to even spot that its not there. Definate improvement off road. IMO - just do it.

agreed, just do it. found such a difference off road, and a much more comfortable ride up front on the feroza, that i didnt bother keeping it. i threw it away.

I took mine off also, and with the torsion bars cranked up and stiff shocks you will never use it again.

I think my car handles a lot smoother with it removed.. and flex was increased dramatically. (hey it is IFS) :D

I'm still running with mine on the rocky. After the suspension lift it was a it of a stretch to get it to fit back on. It might fall off one day...

Cheers. ;)

I've tried an experiment with mine on the road. Basically removed the swaybar and drove to a nearby park away from the traffic.
Did some aggressive swerve manouvers to assess stability, christ that was scary - damn near spun the bugger!

Went home, re-attached the swaybar and off again to the same spot to do the 'slalom course' again. Guess what?... yep, nearly killed myself again!

I repeated this trial on a different road to get more of a feel for things, and my verdict is the Fez is about as unstable with the swaybar as without.
Yes there is more bodyroll if you push it in corners, but that's not how I normally drive it, so I may well be trying no swaybar for a while and see how it goes.

Doing the lift this weekend (longer shackles, torsion wind up and bumpstop shaving) so I'll see how it is after that and try it off road.

Jon.

PS - do you guys want some before and after flex pics, or has this been done to death?

its been done to death.... your fez will handle a bit better with the sway bar off once you wind up your torsion bars.

Laytons point is that you were asking a question that didnt need to be asked... As it is covered in many topics on this forum.

Fair enough, although I was asking if anyone wanted pics not asking about swaybar removal cos I know what happens now I've done it.
I kind of half had in mind the FAQ thread regarding pics cos this thread will most likely end up residing there for reference.
Anyhow, water under the bridge, sorry for any offence.....moving swiftly on. :)

(Edited for shite spelling)

Relax mate, it wasnt dirrected at your pics, in fact pics and explinations are always welcome. Just at the whole "what happens if i take my sway bar off" stuff. You see it every week, over here not so bad, in the zook section its pathetic. Though the links in the FAQ's will need updating due to the server swap now.

Can we use the blood you spill for S@tanic rituals? :D

Yeah, it's proving difficult finding some stuff now after the server swap :bad-words: :bad-words:

Another casualty from the swap, some people's work fine ( mine does :) ) but some do not. As for your FAQ stuff, to get the links to work, remove the "PHP_Modules" part of the address. That should make it work, you can even just cut and paste it into another window to open it.
