Air Con - 1.3 Sierra

Post by ado250 »

Hi All,

Wanting to whack an air con in the 95 sierra. Has anyone done this in the past or are there any suppliers that I can use for all the bits and pieces. I would prefer a kit off a sierra so that I know it will all work.

I have been told it can be done with a swift kit, but you have to get the hoses made up etc.

Any info would be great.

Sierra's got no balls at the best of times. AC will kill it, even worse if you want to run big tyres and lift.

Swift kit might fit, as the motor is the same (G13B.

Yeah that's true, except I'm running a webber , sports exhaust/extractors, performance coil and a few other bits and pieces. Will run ok I think with the aircon, and mainly it's for city driving to and from work etc, when I'm bush I don't give a damn if I sweat like a goats nuts!

I gave suzifour in Stmary's a ring, they have a SIERRA kit for $550, apparently it has everything and just bolts on.

How's that for a deal? I think it's a bit pricey but then again there's not stuffing about, straight bolt on sounds nice.

My hardtop has factory air con, works a treat. Installed in Darwin by original owner.

Doesn't kill the engine too much (not when daily driving), but will cause cooling and power issues is your using it whilst wheeling, esp hillclimbs etc.

Yeah, i reckon it would be a good idea to use window ventilation out bush, especially so you can stick your head out and say hello to your tires!!

I think I will get my hands on that kit as soon as I get time away from my desk :(

Hopefully it doesn't sell.

my coily has factory air con and its an awesome unit - really cold.

It does sap a bit of power though and you do notice a drop in fuel economy. I only use mine when i really need it i.e. to cool the cab after it has been sitting in the sun for a few hours. I don't use it too often when offroad though.

I was under the impression that none of the Aussie Sierras came out with factory aircon. Thought they were all post purchase kits installed. Have I been miss informed?
