sierra vs feroza
Hi all
I have been tossing up which 4by to buy out of a sierra or a feroza to use as an every day driver as well as weekend warrior, nothing to extreme just lifted and 29s/30s with some subtle engine tweeks here and there as i have not been fully bitten by the bug yet.
So my question to you people (sierraites?) is, what would you do (lift, engine, tires etc) if you wanted to make a daily driver sierra that is capable off road and more comfotable on road if possible whilst not spending the GDP of a small counrty (is 6ish grand i good number?). I waill be posting the same Qs to the feroza (ferozians?) people and look forward to hearing the results.
And one last hing how is the gearing on the sierras with 29s or 30s can they still maintain comfotable highway speed and economy.

thanks thats the way i was leaning as well as i understand that the ferozas are quite limited with the mods that can be done to them suspension wise as well as most other things compared to a sierra. what sort of suspension mod would be needed to run the larger tires 29/30s (i no this is covered in other posts but for some reason i cant open links).also i have read some were that the max speed for the sierras is 68mph or some thing,is this realistic or not, do engine mods such as extactors make much difference to this. also thanks for the quick replys.

As for feroza, limited offroad, and very little aftermarket support. Having both cars, if you want road and light offroad, feroza, if you want hard offroad, sierra all the way.

You can make a Sierra go fast, in the same ways as all motors. Extractors, cams, and other bolt on goodies are all achievable and readily available.
But it will still be a tall box on wheels, and therefore not real safe at speeds.
Sierras excell off road, any attempt to improve roadability will take away from that.
IFS, track width and weight of ferozas better for go fast, and they probably have stronger motors and driveline if wanting super power mods..(EFI too ???)

Considered a swb vitara? They would be more comparable to a feroza. More power, more comfortable than a sierra, better on road and you can fit 30's from what I've read without too many dramas.
One thing to consider is that suzuki's are quite common - you see a heap more compared to daihatsu's - so 2nd hand parts are quite easy to get, and if you can't find them 2nd hand, then brand new parts are as easy as going down to you local dealer. Repco (and probablby other aftermarket brands) also makes quite a few parts for suzuki's (my experience is with sierra's, but I'm assuming that the same is true for Vitara's). These parts are quite inexpensive compared to genuine and again, are easy to find.
Tried looking for a daihatsu dealer lately? I'm pretty sure they've left the country and toyota is doing their parts backup, however from what I've read in the daihatsu section - toyota dealer's aren't particularly willing to help. In fact the stories over there suggest that parts are really hard to find and those that people do find are quite expensive. Definately something to consider!

But that is a good point; I didn't realise that feroza's were galvanised.
It's not hard to use fish oil, cavity wax or some other rust prevention to keep that problem at bay - I still say go the vitara!!
In all seriousness, given my time again I would go a vitara over the sierra that I bought cause I don't need the better offroad ability/easy modifiable sierra.

i have had both. the feroza is a good all-rounder. It can cruise the fwy at 110kmh and also get you to some of those hard to get places but it cant match the seirra off road. You can fit 31's under a feroza quite easily by just winding up the torsion bars and extended shackles in the rear but its best to do a 2'' BL as that allows you to retain some front travel.
After market parts are hard to get for ferozas as they were not as popular as the seirra.
you really need to decide what you will use the it for most. if ya only after an occasional weekend 4wd that is driven long distanced frequently then the feroza is the way to go but if ya only gonna do short week day trips and bush bash every weekend the go the sierra.
