As a spectator i was disapointed to see people driving around it too, i think the flags were moved. :bad-words:

Funny the yellow recovery cruiser kept turning up before they had finnished there attempt to get out (tyre pit ect)

Also you are right about other local events in Cairns for fathers day, pitty as 1/2 the people were at the Carnival or triathlon !

Good day out ! ;)

Some of the flags got knocked down driven over etc. I know through the day some may have moved 1 to 2 foot but it wasn't our intention. If anything we were going to make it harder on some of the OBS but it didn't eventuate.

The real difficulty was that we got the marshalling job about an hour before the event. I was very happy to do this but invaribly some things aren't going to be a smooth as they could be.

Owen was the middy driver and yeah got a little exited at times :D but that is an easy fix for next time round. Just get someone to volunteer early talk through the possiblities, fix the comms up a bit and there should be no future dramas. Make sure that this is done with all the marshalls and the chief safety dude to comply with Insurance and common sense.

I think you guys did a great job given the preparation. Ideally we wanted the marshals to have a briefing the week before- was not to be...

Did you guys not have radios? I thought we had abt 14 radios on-site for marshal use The Obs course was meant to be on CH23

No we didn't Gordon did but sometimes there were multible recovery's going on. Nothing to really get worried about just something to look at.

Needed a link between recovery vehicle and the competitor would've fixed it.

Yeah I didn't think the flags were that much of an issue wasn't brought up to me at all on the day. But I did notice it when looking for scores etc.

Alot of what we are talking about are small things and with the benifit of hindsight easy to pick up. Mike I agree under the circumstances all went pretty smooth... :D

One thing i will point out is this year was a bit safer for the spectators with the orange fence, last year we had people in the centre of the track and walking in front of the vehicals exiting the last mud hole. A bit of an insurance nightmare.

There is a possibility of a "competitor only" event for the november date. It will be a smaller affair than the last one ie no Vic entrants  with more of a social theme.
It is dependant on the landowner getting the legal nod that people can run on their own insurance in this format.
