Hi guys, stupid question but how can u run a transfer case breather? pulled the cap of mine and its tiny (to short to connect a hose to?)
have i missed some really obvious way todo this?

i managed to slip my hose over that and used a hose clamp to secure it, works fine, or do as chris said, remove the breather, tap a thread and get bit of copper pipe with the same thread.

It's wise to change your t-case oil quite regularly, too, as its only around 0.8L and it does a heap of work. (I use heavy 140 oil)
Never had water/mud in mine, but I imagine as seals wear and bearings start to slop, it could easily get in.
Think I'll breather mine next time its out.

This is how I did mine tapped it out to BSP and screwed in an elbow and a barb and teed it into my 12mm line from the rear diff breather.christover1 wrote:Can you tap a thread into it, then screw in a brass 90* bend?

When I dumped the old oil before fitting the lower gears and bearing kit it looked like liquid chocolate.

no thats why theres a problem with doing it. I use a piece of 8mm hose which fits on with a clamp..only just done it so time will tell if stays on. The problem is the breather extrusion is very short so not much for a hose clamp to grip onto.suzuki boy wrote:Havn't checked mine for a while!

i pulled the little hose and clip off the radiator overflow bottle on my spare zook. i found the hose and clip fit perfectly. i ran it up to the bottom of the shifter boot and cut a small hode and ran it into the cab. works a treat- no smells or noises, even after being on its roof a few times.

i used 8mm heater hose and it stretched over tightly..running it into the garden hose that is all t-pieced and connects both diffs and transfer. I run it up through the engine bay and through a convenient hole that was in the firewall..no filter, ends behind dash, no smell probs.

filter is really only to keep crud out of pipe, stop it getting into diffs/cases. I don't think it would stop any fumes/smells.
Some people re-use the zook bit onto end of hose.

One end fits snugly into normal garden hose and a clamp to hold in place. Filters will not stop smell as far as I know. Best mounting spot for it is in the engine bay.
