a mate has a 5 speed manual out of a 60 series 83 model 2f petrol and wants to know if it would go into a 60 series 82 model 4 ltr deisel

any help would be good,

change the bell, and bolt it in, but the crosmember goes backwards 60mm, and shafts extend/contract that much aswell.

Another way of doing it I have seen done is to move the engine forwards 60mm then the gearbox and shafts all fit.

Not that hard to put adaptor plates on the 2 engine mounts and not much else to do for it to fit ok.

and then your gearsticks would be coming up 60mm further forward and I am pretty sure the gear stick would hit the dash (mine is about 20mm off the dash when in 5th) and id imagine the holes in the transmision tunnel would have to be enlarged aswell.

Easier to just get the crossmember and shafts from the donor vehicle. Or get some shafts from the wreckers.

well, he has a 60 series 2f petrol now, and wants to put the 5 speed out of that into a 4ltr deisel he has just bought,

so what bits can he pinch of the petrol to fit the gearbox to the deisel
