Post by ryna »

i got the zook in water over the top of the bonnet yesterday, i had not tools at all, so we towed it back home. the electrics are still working, but what should i do to try and save it? i want to do a 1600 swap anyway, but if i can possibly get a few more thrashes out of this motor then thatl be cool

thanks

First thing would be pull the plugs and crank it to see if it's sucked water in.

Then I'd be thinking seriously about changing diff, gearbox and transfer case oil.

x4! So did you try and start it again in the water? If you did youve more than likely sucked a heap of water in and killed the motor! Sorry but it had to be said!

Yeah definatley pull the plugs and turn the motor over,If you get any bit of water out of the cylinders i would suggest spraying wd40 or similar down into each cylinder to disperse any left over water or moisture, and crank it again.

I would also go right through all the electrics and clean and spray these with wd40 as well....

And definatley change all the oils and filters...

Oh and check your fuel system to make sure you didn't get any water into the fuel tank..

i would remove spark plugs, and blow all the water out, suzuki motors dont usually stuff their rods or pistons, due to them being not a high compression motor, so i would try and get all the water out,
change oil and filter and all other oils(diff gbox, tcase) and see how it goes
