hi everyone
im undersided with my 40! i want to lift it but i would like to put wider diffs on it. if i was to put different diffs on it i would probably go with 80 series diffs as i would be able to go with coils then. has anyone done this yet and if so around how much did it cost to do the full conversion?
thanks mitch

80 diffs on a 40

I rekon the same amount of workbucketofbolts wrote:gotta agree there,
if you wanna keep it all toyota, go with 60 series diffs,
all depends what your plans are, leaf springs or coils, you can do coils on 60 seriers diffrs, but abit of work,
The springs mounts on a GQ/GU are unlikely to be correctly spaced to line up with the 40 series chassis so the mounts are going to have to be moved anyway
60 series diffs have bin done many times before and i think they are about 3 inches wider and are very strong front and rear though the cv's arn't as strong as the 80 series i don't think.
i got quoted about $5000 to put the front of my 75 ute on coils using 80 diffs so probly around 8k all up for front and rear.
though u may find someone on here that could do it cheaper.
another option is to go sprung over using 60 diffs and wheel spacers with a revers shackle at the front and maybe drop shackles at the rear u will get as much flex as coils then and it will be cheeper.
