was just wondering if a universal 19 row oil cooler cood be used as a radiator for a water to air intercooler....... have been told "no" but i didnt get an explenation... can anyone explain why please? i have a subaru EJ20 water to air intercooler i want to put on my toyota 3B ..... if you know of another radiator let me know please...cheers!

gday muss hows it going
the main problem with using oil coolers for heat exchanger/radiator. would be internal corrossion, due to the unit being made of none coated mild steel.
so if you go that route make sure you use a good radiator coolant castrol/natra
and mix at a min off 33% or a max of 50%
dont make the common mistake of using the cheep kmart/super cheep etc $5-$7.00 5l pre mix bottle of coolant then mixing that at 33-50% ratio. if you go the cheep route your coolant system needs to be filled 100% by the cheep bottles as thay have already been pre mixed.
the other choice would be to select an alloy or copper heat exchanger - coolant will still need to be used. but corrosion wouldnt be such an issue.
