greg,
I'm running with Generals 30x9.50-15 and consider them too heavy for my rear door.

Had a sidewall puncture on a badly rutted downhill slope once .........with the spare on the door it was quite a hassle keeping the door open to get to my CO² bottle and safety seal kit.

So now my spare sits on the load deck in the rear.

Also in the rainforests we use our recovery and snatch sraps very often and invariably they get all muddy so coiling them on the empty spare rim is my solution.

Also the ''gullies'' we often encounter had taken out most of our rear number plates and one mate had his rear door dented becos of the spare tyre.......so an emprty rim gives me a better chance.

get a spare front hub assembly and mount it on the spare wheel bracket. then mount the spare rim off that. that way you'll have a spare locking hub if one grenades, you'll have plenty of spare nuts and bolts for the front hub assemblies, and your rim will be able to rotate. way cool :cool:

Last night I saw the Jimny of all Jimnys.......goddam F*** Off HUGE!!!! :shock:

Its belongs to one of our club members - Claudio - its got a 4" suspension lift and 3" body lift running big fat 31's........I can only just put my hand on the roof......this thing towered over a lot of the big Sierras......it's an engineered air-bag model to boot....and he built it himself.
F***ing Awsum!!!!!!!!!!! :shock:

Ahh yes, that is my Jimny on the first page of this thread. Was down the snow having a blast. Love not having to put chains on.

Just got back from Cape York. That is one place that tests the reliability out on every component of your fourby. The standard mounting points for shocks on the Jimny turn to butter up there, lucky the front ones were cut off and some heavy duty ones made by overkill performed A1. Must be time to cut the rear ones off that I welded up while up there.

Out of the return trip to Cairns (a total of 2170km) there was not much off-roading, but still got to play on the good stuff. Driving/winching up gunshot is one highlight.

Rough specs off the top of my head of mods:

2000 Jimny JLX
31" Goodyear Wrangler MTR's
Custom made adjustable pan rods
Series 1 Rockhopper transplant
Rear ARB air locker
4" suspension lift
3" body lift
ARB winch bar
Magnum 9000lb winch
Dual battery setup
FinerFilter Air Filter
Stainless custom snorkle

Jase, that's a sweet ride mate. And to see it attempting Gunshot... reminds me of a movie I saw online somewhere of a guy in a Patrol with a tin boat on the roof going down Gunshot... and then attempting to get back up it in reverse!

Next time you're there, try it in reverse

and get someone to video it! (then post here!)

And the creek crossing... makes me wish I was in some place warmer...
