It's now time to get my 19 year old daughter her first car.
She's been looking at the Vitaras.
I don't know much about them and all the one's we've seen for sale have at least 130 -150 k's on the clock.
What are they like?
Would you recomend them for your girl?
Thanx

I bought one with 200kms on the clock and it was mechanically sound.
Obviously any smaller car is going to be more dependant on kms and more dependant onservicing (less oil) but mechanically they're a pretty strong package.
They also have reasonable offroad ability despite the IFS... but with the light weight they will go nowhere on any h/t type rubber. Just havent got the weight to get the traction on that type of tread offroad.
Auto versions are pretty gutless in the 1.6 engine.

JLX are the pick of the bunch as you get a 16v EFI engine as opposed to the JX where you only get a carby'd 8v
the JLX has much better fuel econimy and more power (not much thou)
It also usually has power steer a\c power windows.
you can get the 3-door in either softop or hardtop
and you can get the 5-door in hardtop only
